ANNIVERSARIES
On 6th February 1952 George VI died and his daughter became Queen Elizabeth II.
As the Queen celebrates 60 years of her reign, give thanks for her faithful service and pray for her and her family.
Pray too for all in positions of leadership in our nation, especially for the prime minister and the government, that they may act wisely and justly and make the right decisions for the good of all.
Pray for the future of our land, for harmony and the wellbeing of its entire people, and for a fair distribution of all its resources.
This year we celebrate the 75th year of Blenheim Crescent Baptist Church:
Give thanks for all those who have worshipped and witnessed here during those years.
Pray for:

the special anniversary service taking place on 12th February, for all those leading and taking part in the service, and that it will be a joyful celebration of the past and an opportunity to commit ourselves to the future;

the social events being organised during the year, especially the Scottish evening on 25th February, that they will be well-attended and enjoyable, and provide opportunities to invite others to join with us;
-
for the future of our church, that leaders and church members together will seek and know
-
God’s guidance and be given discernment to recognise the right path to take.
This year is the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the first Baptist congregation in Britain.
Give thanks for 400years of Baptist witness in this country.
Pray for:

our fellow Baptists in Luton, that we will be able to work together and encourage each other to witness effectively in this town;

the leadership of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, especially for General Secretary Jonathan Edwards, current president Pat Took, and incoming president Chris Duffet;
-
the Futures Steering Group, meeting to reflect on the way ahead for the Baptist Union and our shared life and mission;
-
those planning and preparing for this year’s Baptist Assembly ‘Beyond 400’ on 4th -6th May.
