Aids |
|
December 1st is World Aids Day |
|
Worldwide, 33 million people are infected with HIV/AIDS. Two Thirds are in sub-Saharan Africa, For every person being put on treatment, three more are infected. |
|
Please Pray:
-
for continued improvement in education and prevention, especially in overcoming the ignorance that leads to shame and stigma and accounts for low uptakes in testing;
-
for improved availability of affordable anti-viral treatment for the poorest people who face the disease;
-
for support for the many children who are orphaned by the disease, and for their carers, especially in Africa.
|
Climate
Change
|
|
If global temperature increases rise above 2°C, up to 4 million people could face water shortages, 30% of the world could suffer drought and over a billion people would suffer extreme food shortages by the end of the century. |
|
As the climate change conference takes place at Copenhagen, please pray: |
-
for world leaders, that they will recognise the urgency of the problem and have the courage to make an ambitious, just and binding agreement;
-
that richer countries will support poorer nations in adapting to climate change;
-
for those people already suffering the effects of floods, droughts and other extreme weather conditions caused by the changing climate.
