THE CHURCH
As we begin to study Nehemiah together, please pray:
-
that, like Nehemiah we may be moved to action by the need that we see around us, and that we will cover all our decisions and actions in prayer;
-
that we will all play our part in the building of the church, working together and supporting each other;
-
for our leaders, that they may have vision and the practical gifts they need to plan, lead and make wise decisions;
-
for unity, perseverance and a strong sense of purpose, and the bility to face any opposition or problems that may arise .

Luton Forum has launched this campaign to draw communities together, challenge violent extremist ideology & celebrate diversity. They are calling on people to wear the ‘Luton in Harmony’ badge & sign a pledge promising to: wear the badge with pride & tell others what it means; make friends with people of different backgrounds & learn about their values; promote own beliefs in a spirit of peace & harmony. |
Please pray for
-
peaceful relationships between the different faith, ethnic and political groups in the town;
-
an end to recent incidents of violent extremism;
-
opportunities to get to know people of different backgrounds;
-
the council, Luton Forum, Luton Council of Faiths and all working to promote harmony in the town.
You can sign the pledge and buy the badge at your local community centre.

Haiti was already the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The earthquake has killed probably as many as 200,000 & left many more injured, homeless & without water, food, clothes & medical care. The immensity of the destruction & huge logistical difficulties have hampered relief efforts.
|
Please pray:
-
that help will reach all those who are suffering, especially those needing medical care;
-
for those directing the relief effort: for improved co-ordination and communications, & for wisdom to make the right decisions in testing conditions;
-
for aid agencies, UN staff & local officials as they deal with their own losses & work to help others;
-
for protection for vulnerable children, especially those orphaned or injured.
