January 2010

THE CHURCH
At the beginning of a new year please pray for the church:
-
for God’s continued guidance in making decisions and considering the way ahead;
-
for an increase in giving to enable us to do the work we feel God has called us to do;
-
for growth in commitment and faith and in the prayer life of the church;
-
for opportunities to make an impact on the local community and to make the love of God known to those who live in the neighbourhood.

Matthew and Anna and the children will be returning to Uganda on 5th January. However they will only be staying there until around Easter time when they will be returning to England permanently. Matthew will be starting new work as international director of the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship. He will be developing on a wider scale the same sort of work he has been doing in Uganda, which will be continued by the team there. |
Please pray for:
-
a safe return to Uganda and a happy and profitable last few months there as they hand over the work to the Ugandan team and say their farewells;
-
Barnabas and baby Charlotte as they adjust to the changes of climate and lifestyle in the next few months;
-
Eunice, Solomon and Susan as they take over the work, that they may continue to have an impact on justice and prison life in Uganda.

January 31st is World Leprosy Day. 2-3million people worldwide, mainly in poor countries, suffer from leprosy. Although treatable, if untreated it can damage nerve endings and lead to blindness, difficulties in walking or using hands, or injuries caused by lack of feeling. |
Please pray for:
-
the work of TLM (The Leprosy Mission) , especially their ‘health camps’ where medical staff visit rural areas providing free health services and diagnosis of leprosy so that treatment can be given before disability develops;
-
improved access to surgery and physiotherapy to correct clawed hands or restore the ability to blink;
-
education to reduce stigma leprosy-affected people still have to face in some countries.
